Reports of breakins at Lakeside area [October 19, 2006]
I am writing to alert you to reports I have heard of car breakins throughout the Lakeside area recently. Also, just today I was told by Linda Larsen that an intruder entered the home of a family on Junipero Serra Blvd today (Wednesday), and escaped after someone at home called the police. Linda also mentioned that the inhabitants of a home on Lagunitas was entered recently by a couple of baddies who held them up at gunpoint. From what I understand, both these incidents happened in the daytime.
Chances are you may already have heard of at least some of these or of other incidents like this in our neighborhood. I think it's very important that we all stay vigilant and look out for "suspicious characters" lurking about the streets or (heaven forbid) in the backyards, the greenbelt, the park, etc. Call the police or 911 (if need be) if you have anything to report.
If you park your cars on the street, try not to leave anything visible on the seats, floor, dashboards, etc. Also, please try to keep your garage doors closed once you've moved your cars in or out, and keep the doors locked when you're at home, as well as when you're not. We all tend to leave garage doors open from time to time, but this is obviously a choice point of entry for anyone who's up to no good.
Please do me a favor now and spread the word to your neighbors and friends who live in and around Lakeside, and even in Ingleside Terrace. It would be a good idea, too, for you to attend the next meeting of the Lakeside Property Owners Association and express your concerns. They meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Junipero Serra Playground clubhouse.
Pardon me if I sound like the Voice of Alarm here, but I just feel we should all be in the know and keep each other informed of whatever we see and/or learn about this matter. So, let's keep in touch, and please be vigilant!
Thanks for your time!
Linda Liebelt
